Dal Makahni

Dal makhani or dal makhni is a dish originating from the Indian subcontinent, notably in the Punjab region. The primary ingredients are whole black lentil, red kidney beans, butter and cream.

  • Step 1

    Wash and soak black lentil at least for 3 hours. It will absorb water and becomes soft.

  • Step 2

    Boil the lentil in a covered pot with salt and red chili powder for 3 hours in slow fire make sure lentil becomes extremely soft.

  • Step 3

    Heat oil in a pan add ginger garlic paste sauté till golden color. Add tomato puree and rest of spices. Pour in above cooked lentil and cook it for 1 hour at moderate heat. The lentil will become extremely soft to give way the ladle pressure.

  • Step 4

    Check seasoning.

  • Step 5

    Finish with fresh cream and additional butter (optional). Serve hot with Indian bread or rice
